About Alertasi

Alertasi is a U.S.-based online retailer selling folding camping chairs and outdoor seating. We sell directly to customers across the contiguous United States through alertasi.com.

We are not a manufacturer. We are a retailer. Our job is not to build chairs — it is to find the ones worth buying, test them against real use cases, and put them in front of people who do not want to spend a season figuring out what we already know.

Why We Started

There is a moment most campers know well. You drive two hours to a campsite, set everything up, finally sit down in your chair — and it wobbles, sinks, or folds in on itself halfway through the evening. You spend the rest of the night managing the chair instead of being there.

We started Alertasi because we kept running into that problem. The chairs comfortable enough to sit in for hours were usually too bulky to pack. The ones that folded flat were too flimsy to last a season. Finding something in between — genuinely comfortable, well built, practical for real outdoor use — took more searching than it should have.

So we built a store around that search. A focused selection, chosen based on whether we would actually bring each one on our own trips.

Who We Are

We are a small team based in Kalispell, Montana. We spend time outdoors ourselves — camping in the national forests around us, heading out on road trips, spending evenings around the fire in the backyard. That experience shapes what we stock and how we talk about what we sell.

Alertasi is operated by IRONTRAIL AUTO PARTS LLC, a registered U.S. business. We sell to individual customers across the United States through our online store. All orders are processed and fulfilled through our U.S. operations.

The People We Sell To

Our customers are not a single type of person. But certain situations show up over and over, and we think about them when we decide what to stock.

There are couples who have been pushing two chairs together at every campfire for years. They want a double chair that actually fits two adults without either person sitting on the edge. There are families who pile into a national park for the weekend and need seating that holds everyone without managing three separate setups. There are people who spend Sunday mornings in the backyard with coffee, away from their phones, for an hour that belongs to nobody but them.

There are anglers who spend four to six hours on a riverbank and need a chair that does not become the thing they are thinking about the whole time. There are parents and grandparents at youth sports sidelines who stand for three hours because the bleachers are full — and who would rather not. There are RV travelers who want one piece of seating for two people instead of hauling two chairs in and out of the storage bay at every stop.

They are also, almost universally, people who have owned a bad camping chair before and do not want to own another one.

We sell to all of them.

Why Being Outside Matters

People do not go outside just to be somewhere. Research consistently shows that time in natural settings lowers cortisol levels, reduces the mental fatigue that builds up from screen-heavy work, and improves mood in ways that persist for hours afterward. A few hours around a campfire, a quiet morning in the backyard, a roadside stop with a view — these things add up more than most people account for in their weekly routine.

A chair is a small part of that equation, but it is not a trivial one. When your seating is uncomfortable or unstable, you are not really sitting still — you are managing the chair. You shift, you adjust, you think about getting up. When the chair holds up and feels right, you stop noticing it, and you start noticing everything else around you. That is what we are trying to make easier.

What We Sell

We carry folding camping chairs in four categories, each suited to different uses and group sizes.

Single Camping Chairs

One-person chairs for solo use, fishing, sports sidelines, and any situation where you are moving the chair around or carrying it a meaningful distance. Most weigh under 15 lbs and include a carry bag. Designed to set up quickly without tools and reposition easily as the day changes.

Double Camping Chairs

Two-person loveseats for couples, close friends, and campfire evenings where you want to sit next to someone rather than across from them or two chairs apart. Most include dual cup holders, padded armrests, and carry bags. Suited for RV parks, backyard evenings, beach days, and any gathering where comfort matters as much as portability.

Multi-Person Camping Chairs

Wider seating built for families and groups. Higher weight capacity and stable frames that hold steady on grass, gravel, and uneven ground. A practical choice for national park weekends, tailgating, backyard gatherings, and any occasion where everyone needs a place to sit in the same spot.

Folding Camp Chairs

Classic fold-up designs that open and close in seconds. Reliable outdoor seating that works on grass, patio pavers, and packed dirt. Includes a carry bag for easy transport and storage between uses.

How We Choose What We Sell — and What We Pass On

We visit supplier showrooms in person, sit in the chairs, review product samples, and check certified test documentation before adding anything to our store. We do not list a chair based on catalog photos or spec sheets alone. If we have not evaluated it in person, it does not go in.

Our selection criteria come down to a few questions we ask about every chair we look at:

  • Does the frame hold steady under sustained weight? We have passed on chairs where the frame deflects noticeably when you shift your weight — fine for a short sit, a problem after two hours.
  • Does the padding hold up past the first hour? Single-layer padding often compresses flat after 45 to 60 minutes. We look for three or more layers of fill that maintain their shape through a full afternoon of sitting.
  • Do the seat dimensions actually fit adults? Chairs that look wide in photos often measure narrower than expected. We check seat width and depth in person against how real adults of different builds actually sit.
  • Does the folding mechanism work reliably? Not just the first time — after repeated use across a season. We have passed on chairs where the carry bag was too small to pack the chair back in without a struggle, and others where the pivot joints stiffened up noticeably after a few months.
  • Do the weight capacities match real tested limits? The numbers on each product page reflect documentation provided by our suppliers and supported by certified test reports, not marketing estimates.

The chairs we pass on usually fail one of these tests. The ones we carry passed all of them.
